Hi Guy J, Can you introduce yourself to the belgian audience ?

Hi I am Guy J from Israel, as a dj in the beginning, and a music lover allways, I wanted to produce my own music with the ideas I kept hearing in my head. I'm mostly influenced by end of 90's electronic music, and by producers like James Holden and Guy Gerber.

The Israeli scene is undergoing a rapid expansion. What do you think of this?

There is a great momentum for Israeli producers now with Chaim and Aber , And Guy Gerber. We all do different things and come from different genres.
But I think what contacts us is the understanding of the importance of the melody in our Productions

Do you think that artists like Guy Gerber have contributed to this expansion ?

Well Israel was always known for it's trance scene, which tagged a lot of other
Local producers as trance which they were not. What Guy did was to come from the progressive to the German techno which brought a large new audience to what we do and opened a lot of doors

As a young producer, you have signed with labels like Audiotherapy, Turbo, Traum...etc … Do you feel encouraged by the recognition by these labels ?

I still think it's a dream sometimes. I am really young as you mentioned and have been making music for a while and first release was just last year so To be recognized and printed at labels from Tiga and Digweed is beyond my expectations at this time.

Listening to your productions and those of your countrymen like Chaim, Guy Gerber, Shlomi Aber, it seems that we are listening to a new sound. Is there a typical Israeli sound ? Are there any production secrets ?

To be honest I don't think it's because we are Israelis. I think because all of us have been in touch and supported each other it is natural that we would be influenced from one another.
Some are stronger with the sound and some have killer melodies and it all effected our individual productions

How do you see the evolution of the European electronic scene these last years and how easy is it for a young dj producer to make a name for himself ?

I try not to get involved as much as I can. I leave this to my management, and try to keep a clear head and focus on the music. It's been working well so far. I like going out and meet new people which helps also to make new contacts, but primarily I keep myself in the studio
And pop out once in a while.

You are releasing an album this winter and also a live show for the occasion. Are you excited to present your album live in different countries ?

This two things are sure to happen soon, but it's still in the works so I don't know what to expect. My greatest fun is to share my music with people from all nationalities, so I am very excited when the tour will come

With which artists do you wish to collaborate in the future?

At this time I am concentrating on my album and looking to collaborate
With other producers but mainly with live vocalist and musicians so nothing certain yet

In your future career, will you privilege producing or dj-ing ?

I am first of all a producer, but my production are always written with the intention of playing it live. Although I will keep on djing – the live show will become my primary performance

How do you look towards your first appearence in Belgium? Are you preparing something special ?

I was waiting for this to happen for a while. I've always had good responses from your people
And I am releasing an EP on the Belgium imprint Dogtown this June, so I feel I already have some contact with you. I try to make people crazy in my sets and this is what I plan for you with new material and remixes.
